GoDaddy Celebrates ‘Take Your Kids To Work Day’ with Little Launchers

GoDaddy is celebrating Take Your Kids To Work Day (TYKTWD) this year with Little Launchers! In its fifth year of celebrating the holiday, domain registrar and web hosting juggernaut GoDaddy has partnered up with Little Launchers to offer Little Launchers books to the 400 children attending its events in five cities, as well as to hear directly from Little Launchers Gabby Goodwin, Sebastian Martinez, and Brandon Martinez in a special pre-recorded interview.

“GoDaddy’s mission is to help people like you and me make their idea real, and provide all the tools needed to run a successful business online,” says TYKTWD Program Manager Jesse Merced. “This will be our fifth year doing TYKTWD, and we take pride in fostering entrepreneurship through the kids of our employees. TYKTWD is all about inspiring them to dream big.”

As part of TYKTWD at GoDaddy, 400 kids across five GoDaddy sites will hear from Gabby, Sebastian, and Brandon in the above pre-recorded video interview. Each kid will then get to take home an Little Launchers book of their very own: “Gabby Invents the Perfect Hair Bow” or “Sebastian Creates a Sock Company.”

“These books were meant to inspire, and I am blown away at the format GoDaddy has put together for this event,” says Little Launchers author Erica Swallow. “Imagine going to your parents’ workplace, learning about these fabulous kid entrepreneurs your age, taking home a book to stay inspired, and then actually being asked what problems you want to solve that very day. What an incredible experience for kids.”

Take Your Kids To Work Day is a national holiday that happens every year on the fourth Thursday of April. The goal of the holiday is to inspire kids through the work of the adults in their lives. GoDaddy is certainly doing that through the events the kids will have available across five of the company’s sites: Tempe, Arizona; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kirkland, Washington; Sunnyvale, California; and Los Angeles, California.

A Day of Inspiration at GoDaddy

GoDaddy’s Take Your Kids to Work Day 2018 allows parents to join their kids on an interactive journey to discover their dreams through innovation and creativity around GoDaddy’s new brand slogan “make your own way.”

“The purpose of the interview video is to show the kids in attendance that ‘making their way’ is possible at any age,” says Merced. “The video lets them hear it directly from successful kid inventors. We wanted to provide a truly relatable method of inspiration.”

Beyond learning about Gabby, Sebastian, and Brandon’s entrepreneurial endeavors through the video and books, kids at TYKTWD will have an opportunity to reflect on the elements that define who they are, tour the GoDaddy office while learning about various job roles, and put their thinking caps on for an invention activity. By the end of the day, the kids will physically and digitally create their own brand, incorporating product and logo design, as well as inspiration from their own experiences.

GoDaddy Meets Little Launchers

“While building out the framework for TYKTWD, we stumbled upon Little Launchers and immediately fell in love with the illustrative design, and ‘idea to success’ story format,” Merced says. “Sebastian and Brandon from Are You Kidding? socks and Gabby from Gabby Bows had the innovative and creative stories we were looking for.”

At Little Launchers, we loved GoDaddy’s inspiring TYKTWD plan, to introduce kids to entrepreneurship and show them real kids who are building businesses and sharing really cool products and ideas with the world. We were excited to connect Merced and his team directly with Gabby, Sebastian, and Brandon so that they could feature them in the spotlight interview, while also providing books for every kid in attendance.

In the end, it’s all about inspiring the next generation of doers, thinkers, and creators. “We hope they grab inspiration from the stories and understand that with every big idea comes a lot of work — but with many possibilities,” says Merced. “We want them to aspire in their own way and be GoGetters.”
